WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
About Lip Augmentation
WHAT ARE LIP FILLERS?
Otherwise known as lip augmentation, the treatment involves a gel-like dermal filler that is carefully injected into the lips to achieve natural volume and improved shape. The fillers themselves are a form of hyaluronic acid, a substance which our body naturally produces, and are not permanent meaning they will fade over time. They can also be dissolved and reversed if you decide you no longer want them. We only use reputable, safe brands that are recognised for achieving natural, lasting results. Lip fillers are a safe and effective way to restore the loss of volume that often occurs as we age, and will plump the skin so any wrinkles and lines appear smoothed.
About Lip Filler Removal
WHAT IS LIP FILLER DISSOLVING?
Lip filler dissolving is a treatment that allows us to break down and reverse the results of unwanted lip filler. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that naturally occurs within the body and is what causes hyaluronic acid fillers to gradually break down over time, however by injecting a concentrated solution of hyaluronidase into the lips we can speed up this process and dissolve lip filler quickly and effectively.
You may want to consider lip filler dissolving for a variety of reasons such as poorly placed filler, migration, over-filling, desire to start fresh and change your lip shape, or you simply no longer want lip fillers. The dissolver will start to take effect immediately, and the full effects will be visible 14 days after your treatment.
Once the old filler has been dissolved we can perform a new lip filler treatment.

LIP FILLER FAQs
-
As with any cosmetic procedure there are always some risks involved, however every effort is taken to ensure these risks are minimal. Lip fillers are inherently safe, and unwanted side effects are rare. Your procedure will be performed by a highly qualified individual who is prepared to deal effectively with any complications should they arise, so you can feel confident that you are in safe hands.
-
This will vary from person to person, there are a range of factors that will impact how long your lip filler will last for from lifestyle, amount of product used, treatment area, your body’s response to the filler etc. Typically you can expect your results to last around 6 - 9 months.
-
Lip fillers are a relatively quick treatment, and whilst we can’t say they are pain free, rest assured that every effort is taken to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
-
Swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness are expected for a few days after your procedure. Some clients have a more severe reaction to filler than others. You can expect your lips to be fully healed after around 2 weeks. Make sure to follow our pre care advice to minimise the risk of any excessive bruising, swelling or bleeding. Maisie is always on hand to offer advice or support if you have any questions following your procedure.
-
No, the maximum amount of filler we will inject in one appointment is 1ml. Any more than this and you increase your risk of complications arising post treatment, and it is generally considered unsafe practice. Here at Skn Plus your safety is paramount, so we advise you to build up to your desired fullness over multiple sessions.
-
Yes, lip filler is made from hyaluronic acid which can be dissolved using a product called hyaluronidase (or hyalase for short). This can be used in the case of emergencies to rectify vascular occlusions, or during an elective dissolve treatment where a client no longer wants their lip filler. After years of treatments you may want to consider having your lip filler dissolved to get rid of any build up or migration, before starting afresh with some new lip filler.
-
Yes, at Skn Plus we are all about creating natural results to enhance your lips, not totally change them. An unnatural result could happen due to poor technique, too much filler or migration. We would always prefer to under fill and build up to your desired fullness over a number of sessions, that overfill and risk an unnatural look.
-
It's normal for lips to feel quite firm immediately after the treatment, this is largely due to swelling. Once the lips have healed and the filler has settled, the filler should feel soft and exactly like your natural lips.
-
I advise waiting 2 weeks between having your lip filler and going on holiday. The main reason for this is that if you have any issues following your treatment we want to be nearby so that we can help. Also, when flying the pressure in the plane can make any bruising and swelling worse, and we want to make sure your healing process is as straightforward as possible.
